SAHM. Part Time.

I'm very excited to share some news with you all.  See this little lady here?
Yes, her, the one who won't sit still for anything anymore?  Well she and I are going to get to spend a whole lot more time together in the near future.  Summer break will be starting at the end of May, and then we'll be together all summer.  The exciting part though, is that when school starts in the fall, I'll only be teaching part-time.

My husband and I have been thinking about this for a long time, and things have fallen into place now and we're working out the details.  I've prayed about being able to stay at home with my children and dreamt about how this would be possible, and I truly feel that my prayers have been answered.  No, I won't be able to stay home full-time, but I will be with her (and her little brother) so much more than I have been this year.

My principal and superintendent have been extremely helpful and courteous in helping me with my wishes.  At the moment we're still figuring out some of the logistical details, but they're letting me have quite a bit of say in how it's going to work.  Since I have a thirty minute commute (one way) I really want to work two full days and one half day, rather than doing every morning or afternoon.  I think I'll like this better also because I'll get full days at home.  I'm thinking maybe Mondays, Tuesdays, and half-days on Wednesdays for teaching, then I'll have half of Wednesday, and all day Thursday and Friday at home every week.

Whatever works out with the schedule, I am feeling so thankful that this is becoming my reality.  Like I said, I have thought and prayed about this long before we were even pregnant with Kirsten.  I want to be at home with my children.  I love teaching, but my heart belongs with Kirsten and I am so thankful to God that this will now be a little bit more of a reality for me.
